greetings Queen! What's your take on Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Gel?
I’m not 100% sure but that product line doesn’t strike me as an all natural one. I remember reading the ingredients on the lotion and being amazed by the number of chemicals. If I were you, I’d try the Aubrey Organics or Lily of the Desert brands.
Hey Fran! have you heard of Barry Fletcher's Holistic hair egg creme? My mom sent it to me as an every other night application type thing, but I'm not so sure because my hair isn't that damaged. What do you think? Should I use it very often? I'm in the process of going from relaxed hair to my natural hair (with the help of texturizers), if that helps.
Texturizers are light relaxers. Those aren’t going to help you very much! Never heard of his egg creme, love. Sorry. Best thing to do is research the ingredients listed on the label.
HFH! I'm the anon who asked about the hair mask and truly not using shampoo. I'm back with my regimen ?'s. This time i need to know about scalps. once u have finished your wash regimen and added ur leave in conditioner do u put anything on your scalp? I know greasing the scalp is an old blk wives tale and most hair regimens usually say stay away from the scalp but I have a dry itchy scalp so I want to treat it. I know tea tree oil is good; any other suggestions? do you put anything on ur scalp?
Tea Tree Oil is good but super strong. You can also try extra virgin coconut or almond oil. Both are pretty effective, as well. I never do it after cleansing my hair, though. I give my scalp a really deep massage, with one of the oils mentioned, either the night before or 30 min before.
Hey fran hey! Im glad i just found your blog and i must say i love it. I just got done finger detangling my hair and decided that i was gonna stop using the deman since most of the little breakage i see here and there is mechanical breakage. Anyways when i stumbled upon your blog and on the first page i saw you do a no comb method which was confirmation to me. This forces me to be gentler to my hair even though i have improved in that area leaps and bounds since beginning my hhj last year. <3 it
Thank you for the support! Maybe people will read this and feel inspired to try it <3 My hair is so much fuller since i’ve stopped using detangling aids. I barely have any breakage in the shower after cleansing. I’m talking draaastic difference.
Do you buy any of your products from iherb? I visited one of the Youtube links you posted a few days ago and the vlogger mentioned this fantastic website! They carry some of the products that you've recommended for very reasonable prices. For example, I just got a bottle of Giovanni leave-in conditioner for $4.93 as opposed to the $7+ in stores. They also carry Aubrey Organics, Beautiful Curls, but unfortunately not Shea Moisture =[. The code OLU214 will get you $5 off your 1st purchase! =]
Yes, I posted the link last week! It’s an awesome site. Thanks for the heads up on the sale prices.
Hi, I love your blog. But I am a little confused on finger tangling? I saw that you don't use any comb? If I do that my hair gets tangled a lot so can you please go into details. I never wash my hair but condition it with argan oil conditioner and then add almond oil and aloe vera ( straight from the plant) on my hair and sometimes I switch up and use Virgin coconut oil. Can you please though explain to me the finger tangling. Maybe I can try it.
I usually part my hair straight down the middle. Then I part each side in half. Put the sides you’re not ready to detangle in small buns. The piece of hair you’re ready to work on should be coated with a natural oil, butter or cream. Like, super coated! Almost overkill! I use the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie on my hair. Once the piece is coated, start separating the strands, gently. Once they feel completely separated, gently run your fingers through your hair, like a rake, until you can get through all of the knots. You’re essentially using your fingers in place of your comb. Same exact method. Same exact combing motions. You’ll end up with way less breakage because your fingers are thicker and won’t tear through your hair.
Heyy; Somebody told me about your blog and how you have awesome hair tips; Well I was wondering if you have any tips on Dandruff & If you know any treatments that can make my hair softer without a perm
Hey, love. Can you explain what you mean by “softer without a perm”?
I'm thinking about trying out the co-wash method. I've never had problems with shampoo but I want to try something new. I have 3c type curls and I fear that conditioner won't clean my hair the way shampoo does.
That’s my exact hair type and i’ve had no problems, whatsoever. It’s all mental. Give it a try and make sure you don’t use a cheap conditioner. Use a rich, all natural one like any of the ones from Aubrey Organics or Shea Moisture. Let me know what you think.
"All hair praises due to Fran" I just finished 1.detangled w/ aloe Vera juice 2. Co washed. 3. Did "the hey Fran hey" (spray aloe Vera juice, applied Giovanni leave in condish, sealed with oil). My hair feels like I’m a little girl again, that aloe juice is the truth. If everyone tried it they would really understand & feel the importance of ph balanced products. I’m speechless … Please everyone go get a bottle and thank Fran later !!!
hey fran hey! so i wanted to say that the bee-mine tip was really good, thanks a lot. Also while I found that curly-butter I found their growth serum (the organic one without sulfur on curlmart*com) It has Organic Coconut Oil, and Organic Sweet Almond Oil, and Grape Seed oil, among other herbs. I haven't tried it long so I hope it works :~D so far it's really good for my scalp (no itching, or gross build up after two days after a wash.)
That’s what I like to hear!!! <3 <3 Keep me posted on the serum!
Hey fran hey! lol what are some steps you take to maintaining shine in your curls? I can maintain my curls, but the shine seems to go after a few days :s or isn't as shiny after the first few days...i need to brush up on my curl shine game :P
My two steps, for extra shine, that never fail:
1) Always cleanse hair with warm water and rinse with cold.
2) After hair is freshly washed, detangled and dripping wet apply Aubrey Organics “Pure Aloe Vera” (Amazon.com) and saturate your strands. This will seal in the definition and shine provided by the water. Then apply moisturizers/leave-ins as usual.
Hi Fran :) I'm having a tangling issue with my hair. No matter how many times I detangle my hair, there's always more clumps of tangles. Running my fingers through my hair without catching a small knot is impossible for me. On top of that, I get a lot of single strand knots. Any advice?
Make sure you’re detangling in small sections. If your hair is dry, make sure it’s loaded with a cream, oil or butter. I use the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie to detangle my hair. I coat each section with the cream and start finger detangling, slowly. If your hair is wet, make sure it’s loaded with conditioner. Same steps.
