Hey Fran, I'm the anon that commented two days ago about the dry skin. The African Black Soap that I used was one that I just bought from my local Ghanaian store and I only used it once or twice a day (whenever I showered).
Do you think it could be because of the soap or the oil mix I made? And what should I do
Even natural products are going to react differently on everyone’s skin. I don’t know your skin type, so the best thing to do is test out which one is drying you out. Use the soap and not the mix, for a week. Then use the mix and not the soap. Zero in on which one is clashing with you.
hi i have been wearing a weave in my hair hoping it will grow but its not doing much at all i took it out and put a perm in it now its very broken off and it feels dead on the ends. i need help not sure what to do i just dont want to go bald.
When you wear a weave you’re denying your hair of moisture and nutrients. It’s never going to grow as fast as actually taking care of your hair will. When you put in a chemical perm, that’s zapping the life out of it. If you’re serious about having healthy hair, consider a big chop (chopping off the perm). And then hit me back so we can create a healthy hair plan for you, love.
My hair texture is very inconsistent. Straight some strands, wavy some (towards the front)... then tighter curls (toward the back). I'm biracial... wish I could just have one big afro lbs... Do you think a curly perm would be a good solution, though not so natural, I really just want the natural look, tight curls like the back of my hair everyday... w/o having to do so much to it! My hair texture makes it look so dirty and stringy. Help?!
Girl, a perm is never a solution! Healthy hair is the solution. Are you in NY? Go to the Devachan salon and have them give you a cut that will allow you to grow your hair properly. A regimen of natural hair products will also give you the nutrients necessary for hair growth/health. Putting chemicals into hair that is already inconsistent is a “quick fix” that will only make it worse.

A landmark new study out of Texas confirms this, having found that not only do diet sodas not help with weight loss, but they actually cause both weight gain and health problems.
Researchers from the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSC) at San Antonio gathered ten years worth of data on 474 participants from a larger, ongoing study called the San Antonio Longitudinal Study of Aging. Among these participants, those that consumed two or more diet sodas a day experienced waist size increases that were a shocking six times greater than those who did not drink diet soda.
In a related study presented at the same time, researchers also found that aspartame, a commonly-used chemical sweetener in diet foods and beverages, is actually responsible for raising blood sugar levels.
US Food and Drug Administration adverse event reports going back several decades indicate that artificial sweeteners like aspartame are also responsible for destroying brain neurons, which in turn leads to a host of chronic illnesses.
These include, but are not limited to, chronic headaches, seizures, strokes, vascular disorders, heart disease, premature birth, dementia and other brain disorders, and cancer
So rather than consume artificially-sweetened beverages and foods with the hope that they will somehow induce weight gain and promote health — two notions that have proven once again to be false — the best way to begin to lose weight is to consume less processed, refined sugars and simple carbohydrates in the first place. Read the full article here.
This may not be what some of you want to hear, but it’s important that we all know the damaging effects of artificial, processed food and drink. Long-term weight loss isn’t just about “counting calories”.
Good Morning Fran
Hope all is well and I wanna thank you for sharing all ur curly hair knowledge with us on the daily! Im having a bit of a curly hair drama and was wondering if there was anything I can do. My hair is really fine curls and recently I died it strawberry blonde. I love the color but some of the ends are super straight (hated it :/ ) is there anything I can do to correct this issue?
I see your hair is straight in your avi. Sounds like your ends are going through some heat damage. You can try the aphogee protein treatment. Here is a video of Taren using it for her heat damage as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsSylgv5ds4
If not, you may have to get a trim and cut down on your usage of heat! Hope that helps…
