Hey fran hey! so i have a question, i'm trying to loose weight. i'm a thin girl but i have a tummy i excersice 5 days a week dancing(ballet and jazz).. but i've come to the conclusion i have an extremely slow digestive system and was wondering if you know of any good healthy natural teas that can help me get rid of this fat. i'm not expecting the tea to do all the work but i need help:(
Drinking herbal teas after your meals will help aid your digestive tract. Another great suggestion is raw apple cider vinegar. Either use it over your salads as dressing or pour 2 tablespoons into a tall glass of water first thing in the morning, before consuming anything else. Also, adding Probiotics to your diet will help with your microflora and intestinal health. I take acidophilus pills regularly. I hope that helps!
P.S. If your tummy is your only problem area try doing targeted workouts! Youtube has a lot of awesome vids that will help.
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Place pecan in a single layer on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Place in the oven, and roast for 20 minutes, tossing every 5 minutes to prevent burning. Remove from oven, take off baking sheet and allow to cool for about 10 minutes.
Place pecans in a food processor and process until they are crumbles. Scrape down sides and sprinkle on the sea salt. Process again until buttery and smooth, making sure to scrape down the sides every minute or so. Pecans turn to butter rather quickly, about 5 minutes.
Place in a jar and store in refrigerator. Eat with freshly cut fruit, spread on bread or crackers, or just with a spoon ;)
How do you separate the good weight loss advice from the bad ! It is nice to have a plethora of information for weight loss ...but it gets complicated when each article completely contradicts the previous one.
That’s the tricky part about the internet. There’s so much info floating around it’s hard to know which way to go. My suggestion is to try the ones that seem logical to you. When I read posts, if the advice makes sense to me then I go for it and wait out my results. One thing I can suggest, which is tried and true, is that mixing cardio with a little strength training will always get the job done. Not to mention drinking no less than 2.5 liters of water a day. And whatever workouts you’re doing, switch them up! Your body needs to stay challenged and confused. Doing the same thing every day will make your body plateau. I hope that helps!
Hey Fran, this note is a thank you for sharing your tips here on your Tumblr and BLGH. In the 2 weeks since I read your article on "Rethinking Old Hair Habits" my hair has been transformed. In my 2 years as a natural it has NEVER been this soft and shiny, and STRONG. I barely lost any hair during my last 2 washes. Aloe vera juice, finger detangling, deep conditioning before washing, and sealing my ends...WOW! :D My hair is going to retain growth now for sure!!!
This note just made my day :) Thank you for the love! I’m happy you’re happy!
Hi! Do you know the pros/cons of using the Aztec Healing Clay in Natural/Transitioning hair?
It’s great for clarifying and detoxing your hair of product buildup. I’ve only heard glowing reviews. The only con i’m aware of (check youtube for some reviews) is that it can be a little drying. Make sure you mix it with extra virgin olive oil and a little bit of honey for some moisture.
Hey Fran! I love your style! Where did you get that great pink shirt in your first youtube video? I can't wait to see more videos! You're blog has really me to really take care of not just my hair, but of myself.
It’s actually part of a pajama set I bought in a mall in Tokyo! lol. Thank you for the love and i’m happy to hear the advice has worked out for you <3
hey franny. I'm looking into purchasing some butters from bellebutters. but before I do tat I need some feedback on which to try out / you would recommend for hair /skin.
Let me tell you! Her Unyevu butter is e v e r y t h i n g for the body! I used to buy the African Black Soap lotion by Shea Moisture and i’ve officially replaced it with this Belle butter. My skin has never felt softer. It’s worked extremely well for my hair, too. Major cosign!
Hey fran hey! I'm a new natural and i wanted to know if its ok to seal your ends every other day? I do a braid out but at night i always make 8 to 10 braids and put a bonnet on.I live in a cold climate and i want to keep my ends looking good.
That’s exactly my regimen for my ends and it’s been effective! Definitely doesn’t have to be every day. You don’t want to manipulate your ends that much!
Hey Fran! Do you trim your hair yourself? If so, how? (I'm trying to avoid paying almost $100 twice a year to get it trimmed!)
I don’t! I go to the Devachan Salon for my trims and cuts. But go on amazon.com and buy a used copy (it always looks like new) of the Curly Girl book by Lorraine Massey. She gives a dope how-to break down of trimming your own natural hair.
Hey fran! i love you blog! it has helped me with my natural hair journey. last night i tried to follow you advice and put aloe vera juice in my hair as soon as i got out the shower. But I am still experiencing some shrinkage. What am I doing wrong? Should i put more aloe vera or do you have any other suggestions? Thanks for all your help :)
Thank you!!! :)
Shrinkage is natural, love! It doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong. It comes with the territory of having textured hair. When I come out the shower my hair touches my hip bone, now. When it dries? Bra strap length…lol. The most you can do, if it truly bothers you, is style your hair in braid outs since they give the most stretch!
do you think yarn braids are an effective protective style, or do they deplete moisture?
Cotton does absorb moisture but the good thing about yarn is you can apply moisture and your hair will receive more of it than through synthetic braids. And the yarn is easier on your edges because of how gentle the material is. Hope that helps.
Hey Fran! I loved your article on BGLH today it really inspired me. I'm currently on the search for a good protein conditioner because I'm color treated and I've notice some splitting and ssk's in that section of my hair . I've used aphogee reconstructor and 2-step protein treatments and had good results but I know my hair gets used to products over time. Should I revist them?
Thank you for reading it :)
The aphogee is super strong! Not something I recommend for regular use. My fav protein boost is the GPB by Aubrey Organics. You can find it at Whole Foods.
HFH! being in canada, it's hard to come across some of the products you recommend but i just wanted your canadian subscribers to know i've found aubrey organics products on well. ca! i tried the gpb and LOVED it! it's FREE SHIPPING within canada, no minimum purchase so i recommend you guys try it out! p.s. for first time users, you can get $10 off a $40 purchase using this code: 10offfirst40purchase.
For a second there I thought you forgot to post the site! lol.
Well.ca using code 10offfirst40purchase for $10 off! Got it. Thank you <3
