Hey Fran, just wanted to say that I love your site it has definately given me inspiration towards a healthier lifestyle. I also am a lover of green smoothies and I just wanted to know if you have ever tried putting matcha green tea powder in your smoothies. Its a higher grade of green tea with even more antioxidant benefits due to the fact that you comsume the powder vs. steeping the tea and disposing the leaves.
That’s awesome! Thank you :)
Yes, matcha green tea powder, maca root powder, hemp seeds or powder and raw chia powder are all of my absolute fav health boosts for green smoothies!
HEY FRAN! I think you should set up an FAQ because I KNOW you must have answered this before, but I really love your sense of style and was wondering if you could let me know what your favorite thrift stores/places to shop in NYC are. I'm going to be there for the holidays and would LOVE some insight. :) thank you! xo
Hey :) Thank you!
My fav thrift spots are Screaming Mimi’s, Search & Destroy, Trash & Vaudeville, Shareen Vintage, Tokio 7, Amarcord, Buffalo Exchange, Beacon’s Closet (in Bk and Manhattan), Housing Works and The Meat Market! The only stores I peep into sometimes are Zara, Urban Outfitters and Top Shop (478 Broadway). I mainly shop online: Nasty Gal Vintage, Need Supply, Anarchy Street, Threadsence and Solestruck!
Hey Fran Hey! I started using the oil cleansing method two weeks ago, per suggestions on your wonderful site. I can’t thank you enough. You are a life saver. I have been struggling with adult acne pretty much since I graduated high school 6 years ago. Before trying the oil cleansing method I was using some overpriced, high-end product that would keep my acne down to 2-3 breakouts at best. Since I started the oil cleansing method my acne has decreased and the overall health of my skin has improved immensely. Your video was helpful and addressed all of my concerns with the OCM. THANK YOU!
My personal OCM (if you’re interested :)): 2/3 Castor oil, 1/3 jojoba oil. I oil cleanse once a day, usually mornings in the shower (the steam helps, I think). In the evening I spray my face with Rosewater and lightly wipe with cotton ball. I rarely wear make up (because my skin breaks out so easily), but remove mascara with wet washcloth.
How many of you are struggling with dry hair? Where it seems no matter what moisturizer, sealant or deep conditioning treatment you use…nothing feels hydrating for more than a day! It may be your Porosity. Here’s what that means for your hair health and how to apply your products accordingly. It’s my post for the week via Carol’s Daughter. Hope it’s helpful!
OMG I love all of your videos and tips! Exactly what I need for my acne scarred skin and body as well as my hair. I'm stuck in a relaxer and am not heat styling my hair. I had no idea how to moisturize it but your videos helped so much! I love your methods, they are easy and make perfect sense and the products are affordable! And I love that you are into fitness, I am struggling with that and general wellness. You are my inspiration!
That’s awesome! Thank you so much for the sweetness. You’re my inspiration, too <3
What do you recommend for constantly dry, chapped, dark, peeling lips?
Mix some dark brown sugar with almond oil and scrub your lips before bed. Rinse them off with warm water. Then moisturize with some EOS (an awesome all natural lip balm sold at CVS or here.), some Burt’s Bees or even just a dab of almond oil. The key is to remove all of that dead skin and then replenish with moisture. You’ll wake up with super soft, lush lips.
Hey Fran, Do you change your hair sealant during the winter months?
Hey :) I still stick to my pure aloe vera as a sealant if my hair is out. If i’m wearing a protective style, like twists or braids, I use some jojoba or almond oil instead. And I coil my ends with Jamaican Black Castor Oil.
“When you have an emotional reaction to what you see, you are judging. That is your signal that you have an issue inside of yourself - with yourself - not with the other person. If you react to evil, look inside yourself for the very thing that so agitates you, and you will find it. If it were not there, you will simply discern, act appropriately, and move on.”—Gary Zukav
