A full body workout!
I decided to do this in a three part series so that you can start with your current fitness level and build up as you get stronger! These routines are a great way to get total body toning because they combine fat burning cardio intervals with intensifying strength intervals. Each level gets harder so move up at your own pace and track your progress along the way! Do these with a few days a week of whatever cardio you like, running and walking are my favorites.
Remember, the most important thing is to listen to your body, if something is too hard scale back or if you need an extra rest day take it. Don’t forget at least one total rest day per week! You can find demos for each of the strength moves on youtube too. :)
There’s tons more at home exercise plans here! :)

May includes a special calendar for people participating in the Pull-Up Challenge to keep you from overtraining!
The directions are simple: find the current date on the calendar, see what workout(s) it asks for, and pick one from each section listed for that date.
For example, if today it says “Arms” and “General,” I’d find an arm workout and a general workout to do today. (The Endurance Calendar also has “stretch” as a category; I do not have any stretching routines, but simply take about ten minutes to stretch out and relax when stretching is called for, or try a yoga video online.)
If you’d like to write about your experiences during the month or see how others are doing, please use the tag “BoP: May”. By all using this tag, we can see what others are doing during the month and send others encouragement along the way. Let’s all support each other on our journeys! (If you’re not on Tumblr but still use these calendars, feel free to update us on the Back On Pointe Facebook Page or the Back On Pointe Fitocracy Group!)
During the month, remember that you should take as many rest days as you need, modify any workouts that you cannot do, stay hydrated, get more low-intensity cardio, and eat well.
Have fun!
p.s. Any of the calendars can be modified. If you are training for a half-marathon, feel free to count that as your cardio on cardio days. If you’re sore in the arms from helping a friend move, substitute a butt workout instead. It’s all about you!

Here’s another glute-focused workout to make your booty the best it can be!
No-equipment “hands up” workout
This workout can help strengthen your spinal muscles while working on your balance using your core, glutes and legs. And maintaining your arms up during the whole workout will make your shoulders burn. Take your time to perform each exercise in a slow controlled motion.
- 20 squats
- 20 alternative backward lunges
- 20 walking lunges (or alternative forward lunges if you don’t have enough space available)
- 20 bird dogs
- 10 warrior III yoga poses on right leg
- 10 warrior III yoga poses on left leg
- 10 get down & up starting with right leg (stay in a squat position when you’re up, make those legs burn!)
- 10 get down & up starting with left leg
It will take you around 25 minutes to perform this circuit 3 times. Keep your abs engaged to protect your lower back!
For more information and ideas to warm up and stretch before and after this workout, please check out the whole post on my Wordpress-blog: www.fitnesstreats.com/2012/04/hands-up-workout
Doing this tonight!

Burpees: A combination of squat, push-up, and vertical jump, you should consider adding burpees to your routine: The burpee requires no equipment and can be done just about anywhere. Plus, it works your entire body, including those important core muscles, while increasing your cardio endurance. Do as many as you can.
