DIY Beauty || All-Natural Makeup Removers
“If you use any type of makeup, you must wash it all off before you go to bed at night. Sleeping in your makeup can clog pores (causing breakouts) and sleeping in mascara may even cause lashes to become brittle and fall out! Recently, I have been a bit lazy and my forehead has become a sad battlefield of acne. We’re all guilty of this every once in a while, but with the invention of disposable makeup wipes, there’s really no excuse. And if you’re feeling crafty, a great alternative to store-bought cleansers are natural homemade formulas. With a few ingredients, you can create your very own cleanser that doesn’t contain any preservatives or chemicals. Keep reading for recipes on how to create your own natural makeup removers at home.”

I was on Pinterest this week and discovered something really cool! I found a recipe for all natural homemade mascara! Now some of you may be thinking “I’d rather buy mine from the store, thank you very much,” but then there are those who may say “bring it on!” Some people cannot wear store bought mascara because they are allergic to the chemicals in the makeup, so this is a great alternative for them! There are also ladies who just feel more comfortable knowing what they are putting on their eyes, so they like to make their own! Whatever your reason, this handy dandy recipe may be just what you are looking for!
2 tbs coconut oil
4 tsp aloe vera gel
½ tsp grated bees wax pellets (you can find this on Amazon)
1-2 capsules activated charcoal (you can buy this at most health food stores or online)
1 clean mascara container
1. Put the coconut oil, aloe vera gel, and bees wax in a small sauce pan over low heat. Stir until wax is completely melted.
2. Open 1-2 capsules of activated charcoal, depending on how dark you want it, and pour it into the sauce pan along with the other ingredients. Stir the mixture until all of the ingredients are blended together. Remove it from heat.
3. Pour the mixture into a small plastic bag and push it down to one corner. Cut a very small hole in the opposite corner of the bag.
4. Stick the cut-open corner of the bag into the empty mascara container and squeeze in the mixture(CAREFULLY). And there you have it! All natural, made by you, how much better can it get?

Continuing my obsession with natural beauty and makeup, here is something I didn’t think was possible - an all natural blush! I’ve made blush before but always used mica. Well this blush is made from…beetroot powder! There’s directions on how to dry out your own beetroot to turn into powder or you can purchase it (a quick Google search turned up about a million hits, I’m sure you can find it!). There’s some great tips on how to change up the color to suit your skin too.
