Hey Fran! This is amazing! My skin is extremely soft and the process was barely painful. I purchased from Target (of course) for $12. I first learned of Shea Moisture browsing through your site, immediately went and bought some things, and I’ve been hooked ever since from hair products to skin care. I honestly can’t see myself using any other products. Thank You!

Organic Winter Skin Care: Drugstore Edition

I know a few of you don’t have the time/space/money, aren’t into DIY beauty projects or simply aren’t fans of handling oils and raw butters. With this in mind, I wanted to make sure to include dope and reliable store-bought options for healthy winter skin care.

image

This Dr. Bronner’s Peppermint Body Wash is incredible. Have you tried it? The fresh ingredients cleanse your skin while also leaving it soft and moisturized. Also organic and incredibly healing for those suffering from severe dryness, eczema, bacne, discoloration, etc. You can grab a 32 oz bottle for $10 at CVS, Target, Duane Reade, Trader Joe’s & Whole Foods.

Ingredients: (Certified Organic) - Water, organic coconut oil, organic olive oil, lavandin extract, organic hemp oil, organic jojoba oil, organic peppermint oil, vitamin e, citric acid (natural preservative).

The coolest part? You can also use it to wash your face, hair, laundry, dishes and even to brush your teeth. That’s how natural, organic and versatile this stuff is. The company is Fair trade which means fair prices are paid to producers in developing countries. What more could you ask for in a brand? Love love love!

The Lavender scent is my personal fav <3

Now that your skin is clean, soft and ready to be replenished with moisture…

image

Both of these are the absolute truth when it comes to lotion! The Shea Moisture Argan Oil & Raw Shea Butter and the Raw Shea Butter Lotion. Both are $9.99 each and can be purchased at Target, CVS and Duane Reade.

My personal fav is the Raw Shea Butter one <3

Ingredients: (Certified Organic) - Shea butter, deionized water, palm kernel, vegetable wax, castor oil, mango butter, cocoa butter, vegetable glycerin, jojoba oil, soy milk, vitamin e, frankincense & myrrh, comfrey root extract, honeysuckle flower extract.

I consider this to be the perfect lotion because, although it’s loaded with butters and oils, you never feel greasy. It actually penetrates really really well and doesn’t sit on top of your skin. And you still end up with the same soft, dewy glow butters/oils leave behind. Best of both worlds. Love this stuff! Always apply moisture on damp skin for best results.

The combination of the Dr. Bronner’s Peppermint (or Lavender) Body Wash (always use exfoliating gloves or a shower puff to help your skin repair itself faster) and the Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Lotion = Winter Skin Care Gold! All at your local drugstores, healthy and for $20 total :)

Let me know if you try it! Or if any of you use them already??

This all-natural Greece formula by In Love With Body Care is the only one I can sincerely say has been effective. Meaning I don’t have to spend the entire day reapplying it.

If you watched my last video, you’ll remember me mentioning the Shea Moisture “Raw Shea Butter Wash” as being my fav all natural body wash. I cured my eczema with it! I stopped by Target and saw this newer one infused with Argan Oil. We all know Argan Oil is pure gold when it comes to skin and hair, so i’m excited to try it. Have any of you used it?

Looking for a sunblock with healthy ingredients? Try this vegan one by Aubrey Organics. Sold at Whole Foods and on Amazon. What are the benefits? Cancer protection and anti-aging, to name a few. The whole “black don’t crack” theory may be changing. This sun and polluted sky we’re living under is not the same one your grandma dealt with! (Taken with Instagram)

I got my Belle Butters Unyevu Butter in the mail……..and I love it!!!!!! It’s a warm scented whipped shea butter just in time for the cooler autumn winds. My skin can get dry and this is the perfect moisturizing solution. I was interested in knowing what “Unyevu” meant and I discovered that it meant “moisture” which makes perfect sense for this butter! My skin absorbed it right away and it lasts for hours!
The butter indicates that it is meant for hair & body… not sure that would work for my hair type, but I love the scent so much that I think I’ll try using it lightly on my hair before braiding it at night before going to bed.
I love that the ingredients are all natural:
- Unrefined Shea Butter - Refined Avocado Butter - Raw Pressed Mango Butter - Neem Oil - Apricot Kernel Oil - Sunflower Oil - Fragrance (Spicy Ginger, Amber & Vanilla)
Normally I’d be a little scared about the spicy ginger & amber… but the combination of the natural oils creates a warm subtle fragrance. The butter is very soft and has definitely been whipped which makes it very easy to use and friendly to the skin. Of course it doesn’t hurt that it’s packed with Vitamin E which assists in getting rid of blemishes and unwanted marks.
I can see my unyevu butter going very quickly, so I’ll have to replenish soon!

Q:I just wanted to comment about the shea butter mix for stretch marks. I def think it will work. I had eczema on my on my lower stomach for years. It was a dark scaly patch that was unattractive and the Docs would give me cream for it but it would go away and came back. The creams they give were steroids. Topical excessive prolong use of steroids can thin the skin out and cause other problems. I decided not to use the creams any more. I started to mix shea butter and cooca butter and put it on that area every night. Now eczema is very drying to the skin and it leaves the skin feeling itchy and the scratching can become a bit orgasmic. However scratching only makes it worst and causes breakage in the skin and allows for the eczema to spread. The shea butter and coca butter mixture helped with the drying but i still had the need to scratch which i had to mentally fight the urge and the temptation. I thought this stuff isn't working because the medicine would stop the itching and this is just making is soft. However i continued to use the mixture and stay away for the medicine. I wasn't don't it to get rid of the scare or eczema however about 8-9 months later. I had no eczema. It was gone and the patch was gone. Which was even more amazing is that was about FIVE years ago and never came back and i don't even use the mixture on that area any more. When eczema goes away it usually looks lives a scar some dark discoloration. That area looks just as good as the rest of my skin you couldn't even tell. Shoot i can't even tell and forgot about it until i read your blog post. I was amazed because after years of using the medication and having to go up an up in the strength inorder for it to keep working just a few months with shea and coca butter about two times a day after a shower it was gone for good. So i will let you know how this stretch mark thing goes.. I got other shea butter stories but i think this one is the best. Wish i would have thought about using them for my stretch marks sooner. lol

aminime

Thanks for the confirmation! The right mixture of raw products can only improve skin, so i’m more than sure this will work. Keep us posted!
